Hear2Listen have seen first hand the devastating affects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of young people. Statistics have shown a huge rise in anxiety, low self confidence and depression since the lockdown began in March 2020.
From previous experience with young people Hear2Listen has learnt that the best way to build confidence and a sense of belonging in young people is to provide them with the opportunity to talk, have their voice heard and be part of team. PodClass is an exciting programme that does all three of those things.
With support from Hear2Listen from start to finish young people will get the opportunity to learn how to create their very own podcast. Young people are provided with
6 weeks of training in order to learn the basic skills required including workshops on;
- Target Audience
- Tone and Values
- Message and Communication
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Recording Equipment
- Microphone Discipline
- Podcast Content and
- Editing and Uploading
Not only do young people learn the basic skills of producing a podcast they also benefit from developing personal skills during the programme, that are difficult to teach in the classroom. These include but are not limited to;
- Independence and
- Increased self esteem
You could make a difference to a young person today by supporting this project. All donors will be mentioned during the podcasts as we feel it is important for the young people to recognise the support they are getting, for them to understand that people care about them.
