Who?

b04cb9eadcdfe1aa4b977949024882655cd1e408Hello! It’s me, Oleta.                                                                                                           I am an Environmental Scientist, Marine Conservationist, Marine Educator, Ocean Lover and most importantly Beach Cleaner!

What?

In February 2018, I set up Plymouth Beachf31fb784c3ff285115e8f77042ee4d256e41fe44 Clean Volunteers: A group for people to volunteer their time to caring for beaches around Britain’s Ocean City. Supported by Plymouth City Council and their Street Services Team.

Why?

  • To help prevent our local beaches from being covered in marine debris.
  • To encourage people in the community to take part in beach cleaning.
  • To educate people on Facebook and at events about the effects of marine debris on the marine environment.

How?

Plymouth Beach Clean Volunteers Group aims to regularly clean the beaches around Plymouth, UK. You can find out about our next events by liking and checking out our Facebook Page.

What will we do with the funds?

Plymouth Beach Clean Volunteers are raising money for Beach Cleaning Equipment. Our wonderful volunteers are in need of things like litter-pickers, gloves, hoops to keep bags open or buckets to collect rubbish, a sharps box, first aid supplies, sieves to find nurdles on the beach, a camera and tripod to document our events and a flag as a clear way to promote what we are doing on the beach. I hope to use the funds to get hold of equipment for both adults and children to use at our Beach Clean Events. Asking people to bring their own equipment is a barrier and means people may not get involved. If we can provide equipment we will be able to encourage more people out to protect Britain's Ocean City from marine debris.
