Colin Moore 6th December 2017

Long overdue. As a retired MN Captain I am pleased that at last recognition has been given to the many brave Merchant seamen who lost their lives at sea for our country.

Mr Guy Havelock WILSON 25th November 2017

My name is Guy Havelock WILSON. I was so named in honour of my Great Grandfather, Havelock WILSON, founder & Life President of the National Union of Seamen & an MP. He was 14 when he ran away to sea. He was a friend & supporter of Samuel Plimsole. I know he was upset that seamen were not honoured for their service in WW1 as they should have been. It was the same in WW2. Hopefully this memorial will address some of that upset.
