I have recently completed an LLB at BPP University which I was able to study due to receiving a scholarship. I now intend to start study the Transnational Organised Crime MA in September 2017 at Staffordshire University by Distance Learning. I am unable to fund the course myself and my parents cannot financially support such a large amount. I need your help!! I have exhausted all other avenues and found that there are limited grants and scholarships within law - as they expect you to be rich, or to have rich parents. Not everyone has this!! I certainly do not.
In 2015 I gained a BPP University Law School Leeds Anniversary Scholarship, which enabled me to study for the LLB. Ultimately, I achieved a Commendation and developed a passion for Financial Crime and Constitutional Law. Whilst studying at BPP University I volunteered for the Personal Support Unit where I provided assistance to people facing proceedings without legal representation in civil and family courts and tribunals. I also listened and prompted clients to order their thoughts, helped clients to find out which forms they needed to fill in and completed the forms with their permission. I then assisted people around court; in discussions with court and tribunal staff and when in court and tribunal hearings.
I have a thirst for learning and wish to continue my education with Staffordshire University by studying the Masters in Transnational Organised Crime. I am eager to study crimes which are a major area of concern for Governments and further my knowledge of state and financial crimes. I am interested in researching and learning more about policing, policies and law enforcement responses to deter transnational crimes. I am also fascinated by the issues of trafficking and would like to study this area more.
As the teaching and learning on the Masters follows an online and distance learning approach this fits in perfectly with my present situation. I am currently residing in Italy, teaching English, undertaking legal research and translation and learning Italian. I wish to pursue a Masters’ programme alongside my other commitments – and I feel the course offered by Staffordshire University allows this.
I am an able young woman; who possesses great confidence and time-management and organisational skills. I am proud to say that I have an excellent academic background and have demonstrated professional competence. During my studies, I always perform to my best and am conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results. With my qualifications, relevant experience and dedication, I will succeed in the Masters in Transnational Organised Crime.
However, I come from a family that cannot provide funding for this Masters. I am the first person to go to university in my family and now wish to pursue further education in a course which examines rapidly changing issues such as drug trafficking, terrorism, human trafficking, illegal arms trading and financial crime that are major areas of concern for politicians and policy makers and an increasingly important area of research. I need funding to study the course and any amount that you can give will help.
