Children's World supports inclusion for ALL children through drama, performance, film-making and FUN!
You can help us do even more of this through funding accessible and inclusive activities suitable for children with complex needs, including limited vision and mobility, at our community based Family Festival, which will run from 31st July to 2nd August 2020.
Children’s World supports children, young people, families, carers and communities with a range of challenging issues including inclusion, social disadvantage, major life changes, integration, bullying, responsibility and special needs. We do this through the use of accessible drama and performance based workshops and activities. Although the aims of our charity are serious, the key to the success of all our work is fun!
Next year will be the third year we have held a Family Festival in Glastonbury, in partnership with Paddington Farm Trust. We have always intended our Festival to be as accessible and inclusive as possible and have some great things in place to support this with accessible loos, wheelchair friendly matting leading into the main field and activities and shows accessible to all abilities. This has worked brilliantly and we have had great feedback!
...we have have children attending the Festival that are missing out because they are unable to leave their wheelchairs and have limited vision and mobility.
It would be amazing to be able to offer these children more sensory activities that they can access while still in their wheelchairs, alongside their carers. Examples could be a wheelchair swing, a wheelchair roundabout, a sensory tent, a sensory adventure area or another of a range of specialised accessible activities.
Unfortunately, these types of activities are expensive and our current Family Festival budget is very small. This is why we've set up this crowdfunding page and very much hope you'll be able to donate and help us provide an amazing weekend for children with the most complex needs.
With your help, our Family Festival will help create a more inclusive Somerset community, bringing together different age groups, social groups and learning abilities - all enjoying life together, supported by Children’s World and our Somerset community.
