This Movember a valiant couple of very good friends intend to raise some money in aid of the organisation eXXpedition. We will strip our faces of manly trimmed facial hair and encourage the formation of a blossoming bush above the lip. We encourage you to support us on this noble/embarrassing adventure all in good faith to raise awareness and tackle the ocean plastic issue and stop polluting our own health but most importantly our planets health.
The organisation eXXpedition is currently touring around the worlds 7 oceans unveiling the terrible truths associated with our planets plastic pollution crisis in our seas. We are using the money raised to help fund the research associated with this project and it will be sent to the floating laboratory (Sailing Vessel TravelEdge) with Crew Member Philippa Grundy.
There’s no silver bullet solution to the ocean plastic crisis.
eXXpedition – led by ocean advocate and skipper Emily Penn – was founded in 2014 to shift the way people feel, think and act by building a global network of multidisciplinary women who can contribute to world-class scientific studies, explore solutions, and use their unique skill sets to tackle the problem from all angles.
eXXpedition Round the World is a pioneering all-female sailing voyage and scientific research mission to circumnavigate the globe via four ocean Gyres and the Arctic.
Over two years and 38,000 nautical miles, a crew of 300 women will take on 30 challenging voyage legs to sail through the some of the densest ocean plastic accumulation zones on the planet to study plastic pollution on board a world class expedition sailing vessel S.V. TravelEdge and floating research lab.
Every crew is diverse in background, age and experience during an eXXpedition voyage. Participants have ranged in age from 18 to 72 and our Round the World 2019 – 2021 crew has over 30 nationalities represented so far. We are passionate about using our voyages to showcase women in STEM, exploration and sailing. Our bursary places are designed to increase diversity on board and maximise our collective impact.
