Earlier this year I had a dream. It was about a listless piglet and a vet. These were the exact words. I found it interesting and felt my way into the dream and then wrote the short story that I’ve called, THE LISTLESS PIGLET. It’s a longish short story in four parts. The story touches on grief and loneliness, and about how we need friendship to make us whole. It also touches into the human/non human animal divide, and shows our connectedness with all of life. I see it as a little book that with some careful illustrations, would make a lovely story both for adults and children, but of course this costs more money than I have at my disposal. Hence the idea of crowd-funding. The illustrator I’ve been in touch with quotes me £120 for each full coloured drawing. I would want five, and another one for the cover. With printing costs on top of that I’d estimate the whole thing to cost about £1500 to produce. I would like to give Compassion In World Farming any revenue the book might make, and they’ve responded that they’d be delighted to be beneficiaries of this project. I’ve never done this kind of thing before, so am unsure of how to go about it. I was told that whoever is willing to give some funding will get a signed copy of the book when it comes out. And also that I suggest an amount. I’d be grateful for anything, but would suggest £20. Many thanks for reading this.
PS. If you feel able to donate £20 or more then you will receive a signed copy of the book!
