Working with Plymouth's refugee & asylum seeker community Fotonow CIC aims to produce a cultural cook book. Photo-Food is a series of creative workshops run by Fotonow's Amy Griffin and Esther Scali, teaching photography and media skills alongside sharing food through communal cooking sessions. Sessions are supported by collaboration with Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support (DCRS),
We want to sustain our current work from Union Corner in Plymouth and create a cook book that celebrate the photography, food and wider culture of all of our participants. Fotonow is a social enterprise using media as a tool for social change, we work with communities to support their creative ambition and enhance wellbeing through participatory project work.
We have worked for over 12 months teaching photography to individuals at DCRS, an incredible charity based in Plymouth city centre that provides; advice, support, education, IT facilities and a friendly communal space for asylum seekers in the region. The regular group and new participants all share one thing in common, an interest in cultural connections through food.
With over 100 languages spoken in Plymouth we want to celebrate diversity and make a book that reveals the creative journey of everyone involved and offer those supporting Photo-Food a memorable cook book. Share with us, support our Crowdfunder, buy a copy of the book. Or just 'give' something to support w wonderful project.
Your support will help us; fund additional creative media / cookery sessions, book our venue Union Corner, pay staff to support the Photo-Food workshops as well as design and printing costs for our book. We will create a fabulous new cook book for the city and the more money we raise the more recipes it will feature!
PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY as you're supporting a community and BUYING A GREAT BOOK!
