Edinburgh Pentlands SNP 2016 Election Campaign

Help Re-Elect Gordon MacDonald for Edinburgh Pentlands, at the Scottish Parliament elections

We did it!

On 7th Apr 2016 we successfully raised £1,335 with 34 supporters in 28 days

Re-Elect Gordon Macdonald the first SNP MSP for the constituency of Edinburgh Pentlands, at the Scottish Parliament elections on the 5th of May.

We can win and every donation will help make that difference

Dear Friends,

Edinburgh Pentlands is a diverse constituency and that is reflected in its electoral past, this seat has previously been held by Labour and until my election on 2011 it was a Conservative seat, I was elected with a majority of 1,758. The Tories once again have this seat  and that thin majority in their sights. Our team are fighting hard to retain this seat for the SNP and friends we need your help.

Our campaign team is already busy knocking doors, delivering leaflets and making a difference on the doorsteps. But to retain this seat will also cost money. We appreciate that these are challenging times for many families and we’re very grateful for all the donations and help we’ve received so far. However, we won’t win this seat without the finances required. And that’s why we’re hoping you can contribute to this crowdfunder.

I campaigned against encroachment onto our precious greenbelt land, instead advocating that we should use the many undeveloped brownfield sites across Edinburgh and beyond to meet our housing shortfall.  Unfortunately developers have taken me at my word and are redeveloping the site, that until recently housed my constituency office which will shortly provide affordable homes.

We have found a new office for a campaign hub, however we desperately need funding to cover the costs of this vital resource. We need to pay for a campaign office where people can meet, collect leaflets for delivery, telephone canvass and contact voters, send targeted letters, do data entry, and organise campaign activity 7 days a week.

Of course we need to pay for campaign materials - leaflets, posters, banners, badges, stickers, and more. It all quickly adds up and that’s why we need your help to finance the campaign to a successful conclusion.

About Gordon Macdonald

Gordon has been a member of the SNP for some 41 years and has campaigned for the SNP throughout that time until his election in 2011 Gordon was an accountant.  Since being elected Gordon has campaigned on new medical facilities, traffic congestion, planning and air quality. He is a member of the parliament’s Education and Culture committee and the Economy, Energy and Tourism committee.

How do Edinburgh Pentlands SNP fund their campaigns?

That’s simple – through people like you. The SNP don’t have the luxury of many large donations from big businesses or donations from trade unions.

How will my donation help?

Any donation no matter how big or small will make a difference.

My team and I want to reach all 53,000 voters behind the 33,000 doors in this constituency and to do that we need your help. An election campaign is expensive and it’ll require SNP members, party supporters, friends, well-wishers and others to raise the money required to properly fund this campaign.

Remember, not a penny of this money goes to pay for activist or volunteer help – that time and effort is all given freely. When we hit the crowdfunding closing date, all money donated will be deposited into the SNP Edinburgh Pentlands constituency bank account for immediate use in the campaign.

Let’s win together again and keep Scotland moving forward.

Please give what you can - £5, £10, £20, £50 or more - it all adds up... THANK YOU.
