Pavilion User Groups have upgraded the Recreation Ground in Pitlochry refurbishing the play park and rebuilding the historic terracing. This has made The Rec a popular place for local nursery and toddler groups, young people and is a definite destination park for visiting families. We are now hosting events with crowds in excess of 2000.
We have provided equipment to encourage youth football and now have a thriving fixture list with young people either playing or training most week nights. We have established an annual Gala Day and Football Festival which brings teams from all across Scotland with over 650 under 12s and offers a fantastic opportunity for local groups to raise funds.
We are in the process of an asset transfer of the Pavilion into community ownership and are working to completely upgrade the entire building; showers, changing rooms, upstairs rooms, kitchen, and toilets further enhancing the attraction for new events and business.
There are a number of other projects being planned; floodlights, trim trails, new benches, flower beds, bird and bat boxes and much more. The works so far not only open up better life choices for people living in a rural position that has limited options. There is also a significant financial boost to local businesses from the enormous increase in footfall to the park.
With all these changes and improvements we have great need for public toilets. Until the Pavilion is upgraded there are no toilets at the park and further improvements would only make the problem worse.
We have installed portable toilets but this is a direct cost to the group for which we have no income. To provide this vital facility we need more finances.
