Help our village cricket club pursue an ambition to create the best ground around...starting by replacing our worn out roller!

Good question! Well, we want to be good ancestors, and we need your help to do that. We're a village cricket club based in the Camel Valley, near Bodmin in Cornwall. Our club is steeped in history. Once the recreational pursuit for the Pencarrow Estate workforce, we have now extended our membership to a growing following. Pictured below is the team from 1902. Teams of the past would have been made up of skilled groundsmen - they would have had a real passion for the upkeep of the cricket pitch as well as participating in the game. Well, we want to keep that passion alive and create the best possible ground we can, after all our ground and its setting is our biggest attraction.
Your money will help us fund a new roller, an important piece of kit when trying to prepare a top quality pitch. Our existing roller is worn out, it really has seen better days and besides, it's incredibly tricky to operate and incredibly heavy to push!
Any overfunding will help us speed up the purchase; we will also direct any additional funds raised towards other grounds equipment - our Groundsman will be delighted!!
We're a passionate lot, particularly when it comes to improving our playing facilities. Over the years we've raised funds and deliberately directed them towards equipment to improve the playing surface. Given our rural location we believe that to compete with the larger surrounding town based clubs we need to offer something different. Our appeal will be our ground, not scale, not a state of the art clubhouse, not proximity to local schools, but a firm belief that people want to play cricket on the best ground around.
We can only achieve this ambition with your help...as a small club we are reliant on grants and fundraising activity for big purchases like this. Please tell your family, friends and business contacts about our project. If we can cast the net wide enough and people donate, however big or small, then our project will be a success...it really does mean a lot!

We're really excited about the 2015 season and following promotions in 2012, 2013 and 2014 we are looking to grow our membership and provide greater opportunity to play cricket at Pencarrow. Our first XI play in Division 2 East of the Cornwall Cricket League. Our newly formed 2nd team will start in Division 6 East this year - it's the first time in over a decade that we've run two sides at the club. We also have a mid week XI who play in the Newlyn East League and knock out competitions. Very shortly we'll be running some youth coaching for 8-11 year olds on a Sunday morning, we see this as a major step in creating a sustainable club. No matter your age or ability we would like to welcome everyone into our club, not least to experience the unique surrounds and top class playing facility.
And some of our rewards...(below) works by Barnaby Jackson Ceramics and our Limited Edition 'Believe' playing shirt.
