Hi, we have a 1yr old springer spaniel named Harry. He is a much loved family member and also a therapy dog to my sister who suffers with severe physical disabilities and complex health conditions.
Last Monday Harry was out for his usual walk when suddenly he vomited and then collapsed. He was rushed to the vets who immediately referred him to a specialist as they couldn’t find any cause and informed us that unfortunately he was getting worse and to prepare for the worst. Harry underwent several tests and scans but nobody can find an answer to why this happened. After an extremely long 48hrs we received a phone call to say that harry was walking around again and seemed a bit more alert. We went to pick him up and begged to take him home where he would be more comfortable. They agreed but only if we would bring him back 2 days later for more tests. Thankfully, during those 2 days harry perked up slightly and upon returning to the vets they decided that he is better off at home. Test results showed possible liver toxins so that is something they are continuing to monitor for now. Harry now has to take daily medication for his liver but is slowly getting his energy back. The problem is, we only had basic insurance and because harry had to see specialists etc we then got provided with an enormous bill! We have sold numerous items and have been able to pay some of the bill but unfortunately there is still £1000 outstanding. As you can imagine, money is tight due to my sisters complex care needs and cost of everyday living. We have never done anything like this before but unfortunately we are out of options. If anyone is able to help, you have no idea how much it would be appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Thanks
