Pawsitive Squad is a community interest company (a type of not for profit) which provides canine assisted therapy, assistance dog training and therapy dog visits to support young people with any disability or who are recovering through trauma. We do this through weekly group classes, 1-2-1 sessions and training camps.
I started Pawsitive Squad last year following the birth of my daughter who has complex needs. I realised there is very few clubs which cater to young people with complex disabilities and also realised that getting an assistance dog often either takes years on waiting lists with charities or costs thousands of pounds from companies so we created Pawsitive Squad to provide accessible and affordable assistance dog training and canine assisted activities.
We were only founded in Summer 2018 but have already had a great impact but we need your support to continue and grow. We are aiming for £1000 of donations in order to allow us to run two Paws in Tents camps. Our 'Paws in Tents' camps provide families with young people who have a disability with the opportunity to go on holiday which for many of our customers is rare. Our camps are open to families from all over the UK so even those who are unable to benefit from our weekly services can still learn how to teach their dog to support the young person. Our camps contain a mixture of camping activities, assistance dog training exercises, games, outdoor activities, cooking, camp fire and more.
