To create full time employment for the special needs and disabled community

by Kiean Glynn in Gloucester, England, United Kingdom

Over the last three years I have given work experience to students in my restaurant from the National Star College in Cheltenham. This is a college which educates young adults who have a range of special needs and disabilities.
I am going to set up a business to give employment to people from Gloucestershire who have special needs or a disability. The business would be set up as a social enterprise, which means it is an non profit making organisation. The enterprise itself is already set up with a registered SE number but needs the initial start up costs.
I believe everyone should have an opportunity in life to fulfill their dreams. Unfortunately most people that have finished school, college or work experience that have special needs find it incredibly hard to find (or aren't even offered) employment. They are then left on the scrap heap as unusable. We all have skills, and we all want to be part of society. This is something I am passionate about and believe that everyone deserves a chance in life. I want to make a difference.
Through my experience and knowledge of the hospitality industry, I believe I can make a difference and offer the opportunity of regular paid employment which will benefit the community and individuals alike, employees will have an opportunity to further their skills in, customer service, food prep, food service, it skills, communication skills, maintenance and organisational skills, all employees will gain further professional qualifications to help enhance there careers.
This is an opportunity for the community to show support to those individuals that want to be accepted for who they are and to be given a chance within an everyday community in Cirencester. At present Cirencester has no specific representation to allow full time employment for people with special needs or a disability to work together solely on there own project.
It is my intention to create an environment where confidence is grown, knowledge given and skills developed. This I believe will then be a stepping stone to enable the individuals to develop their careers.
Please help show your support.
