Park Brew Brewery Expansion Fundraiser

Park Brew craft brewery in Brechin has been up and running for 8 months and we now need bigger kit so we can make you even more beer!

We did it!

On 23rd Oct 2016 we successfully raised £3,594 of £3,000 target with 108 supporters in 28 days

New stretch target

Wow thanks guys - we have hit our initial target.  So with the extra funding we can get some other exciting kit to help us.  Including a new labelling machine - this will help Andy as the one he built is a little sore on the wrist.

Launched in January 2016 Park Brew is a craft brewery set up by John Leatherbarrow and Andy Donald.

When we launched the brewery in January, everywhere we went customers, friends and family expressed their concerns that we would not be able to produce enough of our beer to meet demand.  They were right!

The brewery started as most do with an idea - John had been home brewing for 15 years and had toyed with the idea of launching a brewery for a few years - when his non beer drinking friend and neighbour Andy suggested setting up production in his new shed they both saw an opportunity and went for it.

Living at Park View in Brechin overlooking the park gave Andy the inspiration for the name Park Brew.

So June 2015 saw the shed starting to take shape.  With a 7x4 metre space the decision was made that a space to the rear would be an ideal location giving us 3 x 4 metres to brew, ferment and store the finished beer plus room to store all the ingredients, bottles and casks.

With everything in place we got the ok from HMRC and Park Brew was born.

What were we thinking - It wasn’t long before we realised that we had a problem.  We outgrew the fermentation buckets we were using within 2 months and within 4 months we were brewing 3 back to back brews every Sunday.

We are now brewing 4 beers

Towhead IPA @ 4.4%

Cross Keys 80 /- @ 4.4%

North Port Brown Porter @ 4.4%

St Ninians - Lager @ 3.6%

Running at full capacity meant we had to move location - so in July we moved to a new larger premises - quite modest but with running water and drains and we now have plenty of space to grow.

We both work full time and only fit in the brewery work at evenings and weekends.  Every penny we make from the beer is reinvested back into the business.  But it is a slow process.

Still doing back to back brews we are now looking at increasing production again. To do this we need to invest in a new kettle, mash tun and hot liquor tank.

We have done the maths and 1000L is ideal - this will give us the room to grow the business without the need to get bigger equipment for a few years.

So this is where you come in.

We would like your help to raise the funds and in return we have some fantastic rewards.

From keyrings, t-shirts, glasses and beer - to full days brewing experience and topped off with a party.

We have never had an official launch and this is the perfect opportunity to do so.  So we have booked the venue and band for the 18th November.

Tickets are £25 each and for this you get a great night of entertainment in the Nova Suite Brechin with Sin City Blues performing live, a buffet and beer tokens so you can enjoy all 4 of our beers for free. We will also have some of our seasonal beers on trial too giving you the opportunity to be the first to try these beers.

A full bar service is also available for Andy and other guests who don't drink beer.

Everyone who supports us will have their name added to a wall of fame.  A 3x3metre banner with our logo in the centre and a word cloud with everyone who has helped.

We got the idea from Jekyll brewing in Atlanta who did a similar fund raiser to launch their brewery.

We would like to thank each and every one of you for the support we have had already. It has been truly amazing and continues to inspire us - all the time ensuring we produce only the finest locally produced craft ales.
