Alongside our Summer programme of age appropriate play, cultural, social and volunteering opportunities we have been lucky enough to receive funding from Youth Ambition & The Southall Trust to run a Dance and Drama project for disabled & non-disabled young people.
The Project will comprise of 10 x 5 hr sessions for 20+ young people (based on previous projects) and will involve dance, drama, set & costume design and prop making. The project will culminate in a performance at our end of Summer celebration which will be attended by 100+ young people, parents and staff (based on last years Summer event)
To make our performance on the 30th August as spectacular as possible we need £1000 to help cover the cost of lighting, sound, costume, props & set.
Lighting rig hire = £300
Speaker hire = £150
2 x Theatre Design workshop = £500
Materials budget = £50
This project is being run in partnership with Fusion Arts, a community arts charity, connecting artists with communities since 1977. Fusion Arts respond to challenging social circumstances by delivering meaningful and inclusive artistic experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds.
“He loves it, never misses a day. Being a Volunteer at Parasol has literally changed his life”.
“He feels he belongs. He feels good about himself there. He has people who he looks up to and aspires to be like, whilst also being with people who are not more able than him who he feels he can help and be a Role Model to”.
“Parasol has had the biggest impact on my daughters positive development in years”.
“Definitely had a positive impact on my son. He has been given opportunities to develop from being a user of the service to also offering his skills to help others [as a Role Model]. An enabling and empowering charity”.
“Incredible service. Inclusive, kind, thoughtful, wanting to get to know each person individually. Nothing is too big or too small. Brilliant!”.
“Parasol is a brilliant, inclusive charity, a model that should be copied nationwide. It is a lifeline for my daughter, and being able to keep attending and taking on some responsibility now she is a bit older, is a fantastic model. My daughter loves attending, is made to feel so very welcome and part of the team. It’s how the world should be”.
