Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Par Bay Gig Club is looking to return to the water, to competitive rowing and to rebuild the club for the local community.
Established in 1994, Par Bay Gig Club is a small club, based on the Southern coast of Cornwall, established in 1994. Although small, Par Bay has seen a big impact on the water with multiple successes at local and World Championship level. After a brief hiatus from the sport, we are looking to rebuild; to provide a club where local individuals can train, compete and get fit following the COVID-19 lockdowns.
As we have started to rebuild the club, we have received huge interest from new members, experienced and novice rowers alike. With only one training boat, and a lack of funding from recent years, our equipment is getting sparse and tired. New kit is urgently needed to help bring through new rowers and give our most competitive crews the right kit to support their ambitions for the season, competing at a local and national level.
A set of oars cost approximately £2,500 with training boats starting from £10,000. Every little we can raise towards these costs will help the club grow and provide the kit desperately needed.
Our aim for the 2021 season is to get back on the water, welcome new members and re-establish Par Bay as a competitive club on the South coast, to compete again at the very top level and bring the community closer together in doing so.
