A team of 48 young producers (18 - 25 yrs) around the country have been working for a year on Paper Peace. The programme aims to train young people in heritage and producing skills to change who curates our country's heritage and give them the skills to share it in a more exciting, accessible and relevant way.
12 producers in each of our four partner towns & cities (Dewsbury, Stoke-On-Trent, Peterborough and Swale & Medway) have been uncovering their local peace building heritage and they need your help to bring this to life. All their hard work will culminate in an arts event which is going to take over your town squares, streets and marketplaces …and their ideas are still growing.
We need your help to give this amazing team of young people the best possible opportunity to kick start their careers and to create something they can feel truly proud of.
Thanks to the generous support of Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund we have already got 80% of the money we need to bring this to life. But we still need to raise £20,000 which will enable the young producers to commission leading artists to turn their research into giant artworks which will transform their towns and cities. But it doesn’t stop there. They also want to bring together poets from each community to create a national peace poem which will be translated into every language spoken in their neighbourhood and turned into a public artwork. You donations will make this possible.
A message from the young producers - "We want our work to be a response to the many attempts at fracturing our communities, from hate-speech to economic marginalisation. We want to bring people from every corner of our community together in a brilliant and unforgettable experience."
We can pull this off together!
Thank you for your support,
The Paper Peace Team
