After battling with my mental health over the last few years and being under the support of Oxleas I was introduced to a pottery support group in my local area. This group was a life line to my recovery in which it was a safe environment for people with mental illnesses also it was a great way to learn a new skill and always felt like a therapy session, as we can all relate to painting and being creative is Art therapy.
With this in mind I am now ready to develop my business of launching Paint it Yours which is a Paint a Pot cafe in Dartford. This will bring a brand new experience to Dartford for families, friends, support groups to come together in a safe calm space and be creative. I will be contacting the local mental health service to allow them to bring their service users to the studio to connect with the community and to develop their creativity and to help with their mental health. Also we want to connect to the care homes in the area and introduce their patrons to the studio to help with their needs to support a healthy mind. As well as supporting the vulnerable people in the community we will be open to everyone and the studio cafe will be a place to hold birthday parties and other events.
Your donations will be used to bring a new creative space to the Dartford community as well as providing a safe space for vulnerable people. The donations will be used for a shop unit, all equipment including a kiln, pre fired bisque, glazes and staff, including mental health service users to help them get back into employment and build on their confidence and develop their skills.
I can not express enough how much the arts and creative industry has helped myself and many others by using art therapy as a way to manage mental health and your generous donations will help us reach our goal of bringing the community together and create lots of happy memories for children and families too.
We will want to also use any surplus contributions to make charity donations to Mind and the Altzemiers Society as both of these organisations do excellent work with the community.
