YOUNG BRISTOL

RCN 301681, Bristol

Young Bristol is a youth driven charity that works to offer a choice of opportunities and experiences for all young people. By working in partnership with a range of community-based youth clubs, and directly with young people through our programme of activities, we respond creatively to their needs and realise their capabilities.

YOUNG BRISTOL

2023 marks Young Bristol’s 95th year of community youth work across the city. We positively and sustainably impact young people’s lives around five key pillars. We help young people aged 8-25 to feel confident, healthy, resilient, responsible, and successful. We believe every young person has the right to discover what they are capable of. Through our work, we help young people build the personal and inter-relational skills that contribute to their overall physical and mental wellbeing.

Our provision is dynamic, adaptable, and varied:

  • We run 7 youth clubs across Bristol’s disadvantaged areas. Over half of our clubs are either in or adjacent to one of the 10% most deprived neighbourhoods in England. The other 3 are within the 20-40% most deprived neighbourhoods.

  • We deliver land and water based outdoor activities to engage young people with the outdoors who might otherwise face barriers to access.

  • We deliver programmes across our clubs: encouraging creativity, collaboration, and community.

  • We provide an Outdoor Employment Programme for 16–25-year-olds who are struggling to find their path in life.

  • With our Youth Club on Wheels, we take youth work directly to young people in areas which have no youth provision at all. Most of the neighbourhoods we work in are between the 10-30% most deprived in the UK.

Our work is youth-led: our Youth Voice Programme runs across our clubs to ensure a continued dialogue with young people. We are deeply integrated within our local communities and maintain healthy dialogue across a breadth of community partners.
