YMCA ST HELENS

RCN 517144, Saint Helens

YMCA St Helens transforms communities so all people belong, contribute, and thrive. We deliver a range of projects in the community, providing a mixture of housing, training, childcare, support and advice for 250+ people experiencing homelessness, 150+ families and 250+ young people per year.

YMCA ST HELENS

Since 1887, YMCA St Helens has worked to provide members of the community with the support, help and resources needed to improve their lives and break free from the cycle of poverty.

Found in the heart of St Helens, we pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming place that helps encourage and motivate people to reach their full potential, whilst also offering them the opportunities needed to do so.

Housing Projects

For those aged 18-55 who are experiencing homelessness, our housing projects offer a planned and progressive pathway with support to help achieve independent living that is sustainable.  We work in partnership with other agencies to provide training and education so that, along with our support and advice, residents are provided with steppingstones to independence. Our work has helped a fantastic 71% of the individuals we've worked with achieve independent living.

Family and Youth work

Our fully-registered nursery provides a modern and engaging space for young children to develop their self confidence, autonomy and appetite for learning whilst building connections with others of similar age. Providing a safe and caring environment,

The Listening Service is an innovative project that provides mental health support for young people aged 12-18. One-to-one sessions, group work and post-crisis support all aim to increase resilience and self-esteem, reduce isolation and promote self-care and well-being. All of this is provided in a warm and welcoming environment, with one-to-one sessions designed specifically around the interests and hobbies of each unique individual to help them to find it easier to talk about the problems they're facing.

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts groups provide children between the ages of 5¾ - 14½ the opportunity to learn new skills in a fun and engaging environment, with residential trips organised throughout the year.

Health and Well-being Activities

Our wide programme of health and well-being activities provide opportunities for people to connect with each other whilst accessing support. Designed to reduce isolation and improve both physical and mental health, examples of activities include dance classes, Thai Chi, and yoga sessions.

There's still more to do...

Whilst we've achieved so much to help our community so far, there's still so many people needing our help. With your support, we can increase our outreach, providing help to more people so that they may reach their full potential.
