YMCA Eco Ambassadors

Who are we, and what is our project about?

5 young people at YMCA have recently set up an Eco Ambassadors group and are  full of enthusiasm to continue to ensure that young peoples views are heard and implemented towards climate change action. These young people will take a lead, with assistance from a youth worker, to get better educated around climate change issues in Perth and Kinross so that they in turn can turn both their ideas and that of their peers into action.

Why are we crowdfunding?

To enable YMCA and partners to become Net Zero by 2030 by reaching out to our smaller hubs in 6 locations across PKC to implement our learning.

Creating a development plan that looks at how we:

Carry out a full carbon audit

Carbon offset by reducing our footprint, planting trees, encouraging 'grow you own initiatives'

Measure pollution - Atholl street where we are based is amongst the most polluted street in Scotland. 

This funding would go towards the young people creating a brand design/logo for their project and to buy t-shirt's/sweatshirts that are branded.

Buying in a Carbon Audit

Youth Worker time - to participate in training and run educational sessions/workshops by and with young people and support the Eco Ambassadors to enable the organisation and its partners to be more circular.

Eco Ambassadors merchandise/uniform - £250

Youth Worker time - 30 half days @ £150 per session = £4500

Carbon Footprint calculation audit - £500

Carbon offset certification - £75

Eco Ambassadors celebration/presentation ceremony - £250
