Who were the Covenanters?
The Covenanters were Scottish Presbyterians who, at various crises during the 17th century, subscribed to bonds or covenants, notably to the National Covenant (1638) and to the Solemn League and Covenant (1643), in which they pledged to maintain their chosen forms of church government and worship. Many were martyred for their beliefs because they refused to accept the King, rather than Christ, as head of the church. They fought and died for religious freedom.
What is the book about?
I have spent the last four years writing a book about the Covenanters, using some of my dad's photos and some of my own to illustrate a day by day account of their history and legacy. The book is written in short daily portions so the reader can discover something new about these men and women every day.
It is a fascinating and educational book, taking the reader all over the UK and through several centuries of little known Scottish Church history in a new, accessible and interesting approach.
Why do I need the money?
Having reached the point where the book is ready to be published, and having found a publisher, I have been stopped in my tracks by just how much it's going to cost. Not a lot in real terms, but prohibitive for me. I'd love to get this book 'out there'; there has been many years of work involved and it would be a tribute to my wonderful parents.
Thank you
Any support would be appreciated. No matter how small.
I have included below two example pages of the book, the quality of which is inferior to the finished quality of the book.
