Worthing Community Chest is a registered, local, independent charity that enables local groups and charities to achieve community enrichment through funding provided by us. Funding supports any initiative or idea that addresses one or more of the 17 Global Goals: https://www.globalgoals.org/goals/. Our vision is to be the “go-to” funder and partner of new and developing community groups in Worthing. Together, we improve, transform and enrich lives. We achieve this through an effective and accessible small grants process. We use the UN STGs (Global Goals) as a framework to inspire ideas and innovation.

This video features Charlie Baker, who was a member of Talent Within You. Worthing Community Chest awarded Talent Within You a grant of £1500 in 2018 to help launch a series of 7 workshops.
The money went towards venue hire, coaching workbooks and equipment. The workshops were run by 8 volunteers experienced in coaching and/or youth work. Charlie won a work experience place at McLaren Automotive. This incentive was created to encourage members to attend all 7 workshops.
All in all, 33 teenagers benefited from the programme, and the workshops boosted happiness by an average of 35% after each 3-hour session. You can see that the WCC grant went beyond benefiting 33 members – the teachers and parents of all the members noticed a significant difference in the attitude and confidence of members.

We were established in 2001 and have helped more than 300 groups, awarding almost £450,000 in grants.
Our funds are raised through income from our recycling partnerships, which include Worthing Borough Council. They donate money raised from Worthing’s textile recycling bins. The value of textile recycling has decreased, and therefore we are seeking donations from Crowdfunder, reaching out to those who would like to invest in enriching the Worthing Community.
