For many years now Bill and Barbara Wright have lit up The Crossway in Portchester for us all to enjoy and share their love of Christmas. Every year they have received donations towards their chosen local charity from the amazing people of Portchester who have been able to enjoy their flashing displays.
When Covid struck and had a massive impact on everyone, Bill and Barbara decided that their next display would raise funds to support the vital food bank service that was set up in Portchester.
Our local food bank now fondly and aptly named “Woodsy’s in memory of another local hero who did so much for the community, supports the people of Portchester who are struggling.
To date Bill & Barbara have raised in excess of £10K for Woodsy's. A complete success to date and such invaluable funds to support local families to Portchester.
This year Bill and Barbara wish to continue their vital support of Woodsy's and the families that use it.
As a community the people of Portchester have really pulled together here to support both of these wonderful people and our local family's struggling during hard times.
Bill has been lighting up the crossway for many years now at his own expense and in his own time. Over the past couple of years he has had to call in help from local businesses to help out with the ever increasing demand on his electricity supply and to help out with the ladders and working at heights. He's pulling in family this year to help him so - No pressure!
It would be amazing if once again we could all pull together and help Bill and Barbara achieve their goal in raising more funds to support Woodsy's.
As the lights go up we will post updates and of course keep everyone posted on the grand lighting up ceremony which will take place at 4.30pm on the 1st December 2024. The lights will then be on for you to enjoy every evening from 430pm to 830pm from the 1st December through to the 4th January 2025.
Thank you in advance for all of your generous donations and support xx
