A fund to raise £1,863 for our second step of a Judicial Review of Lambeth’s approval of the Woodgate Tower planning application.

*** Target Reached ***

PLEASE DON'T contribute to this fund - contribute to the NEW FUND at Woodgate Tower take to the High Court.

In April Lambeth Council finally issued its decision to grant planning permission for application 22/00300/FUL, redevelopment of the Streatham Homebase site featuring three buildings over 25m high, one of them the monster 14 storey ‘Woodgate Tower’. The GLA / Mayor decided that they see no reason to intervene. There is only one realistic option left - a judicial review.

The decision by Lambeth Planning Application Committee seems to us to be flawed: apparent repeated misdirection of the committee by council officers; however there is no guarantee of success, indeed we are told that the chance of defeating Lambeth is probably low. It is a David vs Goliath fight.

This fund is on behalf of the Woodgate Tower Protest Group, and will fund the drafting and submission by the lawyers of a legal notification to Lambeth Council, putting Lambeth on notice of the oncoming appeal. It is an ‘All or nothing’ fund - if the target isn’t reached, no money will be taken at all. It’s another ‘all or nothing’ situation. If the target is reached the money will be sent to the lawyers for the legal notification letter to Lambeth Council. We only have 2 weeks to launch the Judicial Review, and get the notification delivered to the council. Invoices for all legal fees will be posted at the Woodgate Tower Protest group on WhatsApp. If, eventually, it gets to court and we win, then we should get most or all of our money returned.

Inspired by Netflix subscription rates (£60pa with ads, £132pa standard, £216 premium) and the TV licence (£169), I suggest contributions levels of: £200 for immediate neighbours; £120 for those simply infuriated by Lambeth’s behaviour / those nearby whose on-street parking is liable to become a nightmare; £50 for those without much spare cash. Any and all contributions are of course welcome.
