We did it
On 20th July 2022 we successfully raised £1,534 with 21 supporters in 28 days

We enable A-Level artists to make and sell limited edition prints. The project is a creative, entrepreneurial and commercial experience.

 New stretch target

To date we have exclusively concentrated on letterpress and giclee limited editions. We would love to able to explore screen-printing and the use of more colours within our prints.  We would also like to try out limited edition cast sculptures.  Each of these developments needs strategic testing of the new media and production processes.  Funds raised beyond our target will be used to forge new avenues for future Woodbridge Edition Series and the wonderful artists and photographers it seeks to support.

1655454005_new_logo_banner.jpgWoodbridge Editions is a real life industry experience that supports school aged artists to become emerging professionals.

This initiative enables our Year 13 (age 16-18) A-Level artists and photographers to produce and sell professional quality limited edition prints.  The students earn money and knowledge from the project! They receive 50% of their sales which matches the average commission a gallery takes. The project is about making a great product but also focusses on self promotion, networking with clients, understanding the process of selling art (including how gallery contracts work) and working to deadlines.

A little history

We have run this project for 4 years and each year we launch a new series of prints. Your donations will financially support Series 5, which will launch in March 2023 in a public show in Woodbridge, Suffolk and online.  To date we have 53 prints available to buy from our shop.

We depend on sponsorship to run this project.  Previously we have sought a single patron each year.  We have worked with galleries and individuals. Moving forward we wanted to move to a crowdfunding model because it's community focussed. Woodbridge Editions is about helping individuals who are also part of a bigger community of artists. Donating to the project makes you an integral part of this partnership.

How much do we need?

The overall project cost per annum is £1500.

This pays for:

  • The materials and production costs for the prints. Everything is made to the highest standard using archival inks and papers, the prints are embossed with our logo, signed and numbered by the artist. Each student receives 2 artist proofs to keep and 10 editions to sell. We offer two formats for the prints.  The students can choose between letterpress and giclee prints based on which is most closely linked to their practice.
  • The framing of the prints for exhibition.
  • The possibility of extending our exhibition potential out of Suffolk.
  • The packaging for the prints.
  • All printed promotional materials related to the sale of the prints and exhibiting.

There are three ways to help

1. Pledge money.

2. Buy our prints from our shop

3. Spread the word. We need to reach as many people as possible and tell them about this fantastic community project so share the page on your social media pages. Our Instagram handle is @woodbridge_schl_art_department

What could we do if we exceed our target?

To date we have exclusively concentrated on letterpress and giclee limited editions. We would love to be able to explore screen-printing and the use of more colours within our prints.  We would also like to try out limited edition cast sculptures.  Each of these developments needs strategic testing of the new media and production processes.  Funds raised beyond our target will be used to forge new avenues for future Woodbridge Edition Series and the wonderful artists and photographers it seeks to support.

Summary

Woodbridge Editions is one of a kind; it's progressive and unique in a school setting.  It brings the worlds of art and business together. It balances the existing creative needs of young artists whilst challenging them to think about the professional world they are about to enter.  We appreciate that many emerging creatives will themselves need to secure their own financial backing at some point. Our process of pitching for sponsorship is transparent and therefore gives them a format to use in the future.
