We're still collecting donations

To provide places at our workshops for disadvantaged women and girls, where they can learn woodwork skills and help improve mental health.

I have always enjoyed being creative and working with wood. As I get older, and the world around us becomes more fast-paced, the importance of mental resilience and social interactions is becoming more and more apparent. I set up these 1-day workshops for women to help build the skills people need to do some basic woodwork, create social networks and enjoy the delight of starting to rebuild the body-brain connection.
The workshops have become amazingly popular and although I try to keep the cost of the day to an affordable level, it has become apparent that there is a sector of society who may be missing out. It is also possible that this sector of society maybe among those most in need of a bit of extra self-confidence and resilience.
I am hoping to raise some funding to allow me to offer reduced and free places in my workshops for disadvantaged women and girls. There are also certain circumstances where I would like to be able to offer 1-2-1 workshops to some of these women to help them build the skills they need in order to support themselves and their families.
Past attendees say that they have found the workshop to be inspiring, confidence-building and very positive for their mental wellbeing. It's a day to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the location and get creative!
"Jess is a wonderful teacher, so patient and so inspiring. I will definitely be booking again very soon, I highly recommend this course to all you women out there, it's so empowering learning a new skill and creating something useful to take home."
"Great course and a lovely space to work in! Jessamy is a wonderful teacher - she infuses confidence building with abounding and inspirational creative positivity. She is also very generous and patient with her time in supporting her students who have no practical experience of woodworking, as she was with my daughter."
Places are usually £45 per person but we would like to ensure that finances do not prevent someone who would really benefit from coming along from doing so. Therefore we are looking to build a bursary pot that can be used to fund places for women with low income or who find themselves at a disadvantage financially.
