What is The Wizard Sleeve of Oz?

The Wizard Sleeve of Oz is an Adult pantomime created to bring some joy to a terrible year.  Presented in a COVID-safe manner, our pantomime was a release from the world for an hour and a dive into the hilarity of our year (we promise that there is some).

Written, performed and facilitated by emerging artists this adult panto showcased new talent live and in person, for a run in South London.

The plot: Dorothy is stuck in quarantine in the land of Oz! Longing for an escape she must journey to The Emerald City, where the great and powerful Wizard Sleeve lives, to see if she can get home! Meeting new friends along the way like Scarecrow, who longs for Universal Credit, TinMan who drank his way through the year, Lion who’s tale is more than a tail and Glinda who’s so over communicating through Zoom. Can she beat the odds of 2020 and get home to Aunt Em in time for Christmas with the family? Will the Wicked Bitch stop them? Will social distancing infringe on their journey? Will the ruby red shoes help her get home? After all it's hard to click your heels together, with your legs spread...

Most importantly our show is about bringing joy in a difficult time for everyone.

Why do we need your help?

On Monday 14th of December it was announced that London would enter Tier 3 on Wednesday 16th of December, this is unfortunately the day our run was due to open.

We are very grateful to our venue, The Bread and Roses Theatre, who along with our production team tried to facilitate alternative ways of presenting the show, but with the short notice of the Govermental decisions, a cancelation was unfortunately the only way forward.

Like many of these other shows, to fund them we a reliant on the tickets sold to our audiences.  We were lucky that our show was selling well, and we thank those who had bought tickets.  However, with the cancelation we have had no other option but to refund in full these tickets, leaving our funds in a difficult position.

How does your donation help?

We were sad to never had an audience but felt it necessary to offer full refunds on the tickets.  However most cost for the show are already paid, leaving us with a painful deficit.  Your monies will go toward recuperating some of the funds we would have raised from ticket sales.  Our costs for the show, including costumes, design and the performers are costs we are committed to meeting and your donations would go a huge way to helping this.

We are greatufl to Crowdfunder for offering up their platform to allow UK small businesses to stay alive.

What makes this Show Special?

The truth is that every show produced in 2020 is special.  We along with many others have had a programme throughout the whole year of great work from a whole spectrum of creatives.  We applaud anyone who has made anything this year, you are amazing!

We want to support the work that everyone put into this production, from the weeks of rehearsals they put into the show, to the hours spent keeping the show COVID-safe and in line with the restrictions we feel that we should return their support that these creative gave us.

Anything that you can donate, however large or small, would be very gratefully received! We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable festive period.1608478158_img_2812.jpg
