Aim: Wivey Pool needs a new Pool House. We want to start the pool’s next 100 years with the addition of a range of new facilities- details below

Wivey Pool is an amazing outdoor community facility first opened in 1927, which offers a varied programme for people of all ages and swimming abilities from both Wiveliscombe and further afield. The pool is run predominantly by volunteers.
From early morning lane swimming to water polo, swimming lessons to Aquafit, there’s something for everyone. During the main pool season the water temperature is a comfortable 26 degrees. This drops out of season, and whilst many people appreciate the opportunity for colder water swims, there is currently nowhere to get warm afterwards; there is also no indoor area for staff training/lifeguard training, or people to sit indoors whilst family or friends are swimming. .
Wivey pool is a wonderful place. I swim there regularly, and really appreciate how beneficial it is for both my physical and mental health, as do many others. It has become my quiet place, where for half an hour there is no laptop, no phone - just me, my fellow swimmers and the water. ( and our lovely lifeguards of course)

I am going to swim 19.27 miles between June and the end of August, as part of a wider community fundraising effort, to raise money for the new facilities.   If you are able, please consider a donation- however small. Words of encouragement are always welcome too! Maybe see you poolside ?

The Pool House will provide:

  • A communal warm sheltered space for swimmers and spectators to congregate
  • A safe and engaging area where school children can develop essential lifesaving skills through our Rookie Lifeguard and National Lifesaving Academy programmes
  • A dedicated training room for teachers, staff, lifeguards and volunteers
  • A versatile community event space for gatherings and meetings
  • An accessible toilet, for all pool visitors and users of the Recreation Ground

The estimated cost of the build is approximately £250,000. We have already budgeted £100,000 and are applying for grants that we hope will provide a further £90,000. This leaves us with a £60,000 gap - an amount we aim to raise with the support of our wonderful community to bring this exciting project to life.
