Wivey Pool 1927 Swim Challenge TEAM NELSON

Aim: 🏊🏼‍♀️ We want to do our part in helping make sure the pool is around for another 100 years.🏊🏼‍♀️

Wivey pool first opened in 1927. To celebrate its centenary we want to help raise money for the pool house!

🏊🏼‍♀️The Nelson family love this pool! Claire swims as much as possible and it's the only exercise she truly loves - looking up at the sky and trees whilst getting in the lengths. Jonathan uses the pool for his school P.E lessons during the summer term, holiday improver swimming courses & would be there most days after school. The whole family love weekend swims together too. The fact that we have this amazing facility in little Wivey is incredible and we want to do our bit to keep it going and help it for the future 🏊🏼‍♀️.

Myself and Jonathan are taking on the challenge to swim 19.27 miles from June 1st til August 31st! This means Claire is going to commit to swim 80 lengths and Jonathan is going to go for 20 lengths each week in June, July & August. 

The New Pool House will provide:

• A communal warm sheltered space for swimmers and spectators
• A safe and engaging area where school children can develop essential lifesaving skills through our Rookie Lifeguard and National Lifesaving Academy programmes
• A dedicated training room for teachers, staff, lifeguards and volunteers
• A versatile community event space for gatherings and meetings 
• An accessible toilet, for all pool visitors and users of the Recreation Ground

The estimated cost of the build is approximately £250,000. We have already budgeted £100,000 and are applying for grants that we hope will provide a further £90,000. This leaves us with a £60,000 gap - an amount we aim to raise with the support of our wonderful community to bring this exciting project to life.
