Aim: We are a group of local residents who are committed to building a sustainable new, high quality skatepark facility in the Wittering area.
We are a group of local residents who are committed to building a new, high quality skatepark facility in the Wittering area.
The facility will be a long lasting benefit to the whole community.
At the time of writing this we have raised over £62,000… our aim is to reach £252,000. We are making use of all channels of raising funds through grants, CSR schemes, sponsorship and donations from the public and business. This skatepark will benefit local people and visitors of all ages and abilities and help promote exercise and full boy wellness.
Wittering Skatepark is a community-led initiative that aligns strongly with Sport England’s criteria for extra funding by creating an inclusive, free-to-access facility that encourages physical activity and supports mental well-being for people of all ages and backgrounds. Situated in a rural village with limited recreational infrastructure, the skatepark will provide a much-needed space for young people and families to be active, social, and outdoors. The project has been shaped by community consultation and is supported by local schools, families, and volunteers—ensuring lasting impact and wide participation. By reducing barriers to activity and fostering a sense of belonging, the skatepark will play a vital role in tackling inequalities and promoting healthier lifestyles in the Wittering area.
All money raised will go directly to the build of the skatepark. The Wittering Skatepark Group are a community group tasked with raising the money needed. All people involved are volunteers and do not take any form of payment or renumeration. Once the money has been raised and given to the Parish Council then the skatepark contractor “Canvas Spaces” has 12 months to build the skatepark. The skatepark will be owned by East Wittering and Bracklesham Parish Council. The public consultation / engagement has already been carried out and planning has already been granted by Chichester District Council. All we need now is the rest of the £252,000.
Wittering Skatepark will be a vibrant, multi-use community space that benefits a wide cross-section of our local population—not just skaters, but families, walkers, cyclists, and spectators of all ages. As one of the few free-to-access recreational areas in the village, it will become a focal point for outdoor activity, social connection, and community pride. The design encourages informal gatherings, community events, and school engagement, while also offering a positive outlet for young people who may otherwise lack safe or structured places to spend time. By creating a welcoming and inclusive space, the skatepark supports mental health, reduces isolation, and strengthens community cohesion well beyond its core sporting purpose.
