Aim: I need your support to save my future
Hello, my name is Mary Umoh.
I escaped my home country because it was no longer safe to live freely as a queer woman. Being openly gay meant risking violence, shame, and complete isolation. I knew I had to leave not just to survive, but to find a place where I could live and love freely without fear.
I came to the UK to study because I wanted more than survival, I wanted a future. I enrolled in an MBA in Healthcare at the University of Hertfordshire because I believe education is my way forward and a chance to build a life of dignity, independence, and purpose. It hasn’t been easy, but being here has given me hope that I can finally live freely, build a career I’m proud of, and simply be myself.
But now I’m in crisis.
Despite all my efforts, I urgently need to raise £8,000 to pay the remainder of my tuition fees. If I can’t raise the funds, I will be withdrawn from university and lose my visa which means losing the safety and freedom I’ve fought so hard for.
I am currently unemployed and struggling to meet my basic needs. I haven’t been able to sleep or eat properly. The emotional weight is more than I can carry alone. This is my last hope.
I came here to reclaim my life, to live with pride and I want so badly to finish what I started.
Every single contribution, no matter the size, brings me closer to stability, safety, and the future I deserve. If you can’t donate, please share my story with someone who might.
From the depths of my heart, thank you. You’re not just helping me stay in school you’re helping me stay free.
