Aim: To mark my upcoming 'big' birthday I would like to raise money for Little Stars School in Varanasi.
To celebrate reaching ‘three score years and ten’ I am stepping out of my comfort zone and onto the wing of a biplane to experience wingwalking – and to encourage me (and in lieu of birthday presents) I would love people to donate to Little Stars School in Varanasi.
Little Stars provides free primary and secondary education for up to 900 children living in the slums of Varanasi who otherwise would not be able to afford to go to school. It also houses 25 hostel girls who live there all the time because they are orphans, were abandoned, suffered abuse or their families simply could not afford to keep them. By getting an education, the children of Little Stars are given the tools with which to make themselves a better future. The school is run entirely on fundraising and sponsorships.
My daughter
Eleanor spent seven months at Little Stars in 2009 and has been back several times since, and Kieran and I have also visited and witnessed the wonderful work they do. You can learn more about Little Stars on their website: www.littlestarsschool.org. or their Facebook page.
I will be wingwalking with AeroSuperBatics near Cirencester on Wednesday 30th July. Wish me luck! And thank you so much to anyone who feels they can donate to this worthy cause. All donations will go directly to the school via the UK charity Friends of Little Stars.
