The Cause
End of August my 2 year old was put to bed by my husband like normal. Once he had come downstairs, 2 yo made a loud noise that wasn't normalfor him and my husband went to check on him. He shouted down the stairs for me to phone 999 and that our 2 yo was having a seizure. He had never had any of these before. He was taken by ambulance to hospital, all the test came back normal and we were discharged. We got him home in the early hours of that morning and he had another one. That was the start of a time of our lives that, to be honest, has felt like a nightmare.
Me and my husband have been sleeping in shifts because 2 yo only has seizures in his sleep. We are both exhausted and have been doing alot of processing while we continue life as normally as possible for our other 2 children.
2 yo's epilepsy nurse has said that now he is at his therapeutic level for his medicine, we need to start returning back to more of a "normal" which would be good for all of us but 2 yo needs an epilespy monitor so we can be alerted if he has a seizure and we can make sure he is safe.
I never knew about Epilepsy before, it comes with s risk of SUPED, sudden unexpected death in epilepsy. Having unsupervised seizures increases that risk. So although I wish I just didn't have to sleep every again so I can supervise 2 yo in his sleep, that isn't realistic. To be able to sleep and have the ability to be by his side in the event of another seizure, we need an epilepsy monitor.
I have been researching and found a monitor called a Sami monitor.
This is exactly what we need but unfortunately, it is out of reach financially. With the prize draw money, I wll be buying this monitor so life can settle and me and my husband can get some more sleep with a bit more peace of mind (because I think we will be worried forever more).
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and if you enter the prize draw, know that this would make such a huge difference to us and my 2 yo. Thank you.
