We have canvassed our present membership and members of the public. The result was people were looking for an activity like our bowls club that could offer all year bowling with a mix of outdoor green bowling on grass in the summer and indoor short mat bowling in the winter. Our present lounge is not large enough to facilitate this idea.
So we are proposing to increase our floor area to allow two Short Mat bowling carpets which can be rolled out and played at anytime. Wimborne is a growing community which needs centres of recreation for all ages. We believe that Wimborne Bowls Club could be one of these important centres. We as a club can see the great benefits, physically and mentally that the club can bring to everyone including members, the local growing community and surrounding villages. A place to get together and enjoy the game of bowls all year round. Incorporating short mat bowling will improve our membership numbers and by making the club larger we would be able to offer additional activities for everyone one to enjoy.
Here is a list the elements we would like to fund
Carry out building work to extend the lounge area to increase the floor area
Extend and Refurbish the Kitchen
Refurbish the Disabled toilet
Refurbish the Ladies and Gents toilets
We as a club became worried about the future of bowls not just locally but everywhere. We noticed even in our club membership was dropping. Other Bowling clubs in our area were closing down. How could we maintain and secure our future. We first canvassed our present membership, we then contacted other groups such as U3A and Rotary. We then spoke to members of the public, our family relations. our friends who live locally and local schools. Wimborne is a growing town with large number of housing estates. We decided to have a number of open days and coaching sessions to see what the response would be. The response was very successful. At the same time we asked what could be done by the club to improve and more importantly maintain our membership. The answer to offer bowling and activities all year round. We improved our membership by 36 this year, majority of new people moving to the area. We want to improve even more. We have lot to offer to everyone, not just bowling.

Our lounge facilities are used for social events, coffee mornings, playing whist, and many other activities. We need your help to achieve this goal.
