Aim: To launch Wild Threads' first clothing collection, using fashion as a proud badge of identity for those living with mental health struggles
My name is Kanza, and I was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo — the only place on Earth where the Okapi still lives in the wild.
Growing up, the Okapi always felt like more than just an animal to me. It’s part giraffe, part zebra, yet it’s not quite either. It’s quiet, rarely seen, and misunderstood. But it survives. It keeps going. It holds its place in the world.
Just like people do.
People living with mental health struggles. People who’ve been through trauma. People with autism. People who feel like they don’t fit into the boxes society gives them.
I’ve felt that silence. That invisibility. That feeling of not belonging, of hiding parts of yourself to get by. But I’ve also learned something powerful: those parts of us that don’t “fit” are often the very things that make us strong.
That’s why I created Wildthread, a fashion brand for people who feel like outcasts, but refuse to be invisible.
Every piece we create carries the image of the Okapi, not just as an animal to protect, but as a symbol of resilience, of being different, of surviving. Wearing it isn’t just about style. It’s about saying:
“I’m not like everyone else. And that’s my strength.”
This brand is for anyone who’s ever felt misunderstood. For anyone carrying pain in silence. For anyone who wants to turn that pain into power. But I can’t do it alone.
This campaign will help us:
Wild Threads is more than a clothing brand — it’s a call to protect what the world too often overlooks. The Okapi, vanishing in silence, represents the quiet strength of people living with mental health struggles who feel unseen, unheard, and misunderstood.
By protecting the Okapi, we shine a light on conservation and the urgent need to safeguard our natural world.
By standing with people facing mental health challenges, we create space for visibility, healing, and dignity.
This isn’t just about fashion, it’s about starting conversations that save lives. It’s about showing the world that being different is not a weakness . It’s a strength.
If you believe in protecting what’s rare, a species, a soul, or a story, please support this campaign.
Together, we can turn silence into pride and invisibility into a bold identity.
Together, we can wear our differences with pride and protect the strength they represent.
