Whitby Community Well Being Garden
We did it
On 29th May 2022 we successfully raised £783 ( + est. £175.75 Gift Aid ) with 11 supporters in 58 days

We would like to invite you to support our new project to establish an organic community garden in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Project by Whitby Area Development Trust

National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund

We’re taking part in the National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund. Donations to our project will be matched by the fund up to the value of £250 per donation to help us overcome the effects of the pandemic.

Please note only one donation per supporter will be matched by the National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund.

Whitby Area Development Trust is developing an overgrown walled garden on the edge of the town to offer gardening and creative activities for local volunteers and service users from partnership charities.

Participants will be able to grow and harvest fruit, vegetables and cut flower beds and help to encourage a rich habitat for pollinators.

We hope this project will help achieve an improvement or levelling of mood and well - being for vulnerable adults by:

- connecting with nature to support physical, emotional and social health

- help to combat loneliness and isolation

- provide meaningful activities and a sense of purpose

- participate together in an inclusive, safe and supportive environment

This is a new project to support vulnerable adults in Whitby and we need help to buy equipment, materials and resources to continue to clear the site, improve the soil and start planting.
