I've been a full time wheelchair user for the last 15 years following an injury. Wheelchair skills have enabled me to live the life I want to and get around through inaccessible environment - from travelling to work, I've gained so much from them.
Over the last 10 years, I've worked in programme development in the third sector in community, national and global charities. For more than 13 years, I've been teaching wheelchair skills and now I'd like to take that to more people - now I plan to take my experience and passion for wheelchair skills to everyone who needs it.
In June 2021 I set up a Community Interest Company, The Wheelchair Skills College, and have been delivering training alongside my day job. From January 2022, I will be focusing on the development of this project on a full time basis .
I'm currently working with a number of partners to ensure that as many people get access to wheelchair skills training sessions as possible, so they can learn skills, build confidence and recognise more independence - just as I did.
This is where you can help - whether it's a donation to fund our costs (this page is for 6 months organisational costs), gift in kind or sharing the message through linking to our social media pages, your can help make this happen!
More updates to come in 2022 - keep checking back.
