The 'Wheel Listen Bus' aims to provide an outreach counselling and support service to suffering with various issues across South Wales.

by Anxiety Support Wales in Swansea, United Kingdom

The ‘Wheel Listen’ community bus will be staffed by qualified counsellors and travel across South Wales to assist rural communities who are suffering with anxiety and other mental health issues in the aftermath of Covid-19, help with community building, catering for the disabled and the isolated, as well as the homeless and people struggling with substance abuse.

Sarah's experience - 20 years ago Sarah was a drug addict, homeless, and surviving on the streets. Sarah was desperate for her next fix when a volunteer approached her and said, "Are you okay?" Because the streets were so lonely, this was the most crucial link for Sarah. Sarah needed to feel that she was valued, that someone believed in her ability to get clean and fight for her life. The goal of the 'Wheel Listen Bus' is to build those crucial relationships throughout the community, reaching out to people from all walks of life with issues ranging from loneliness, addiction and mental health issues.

The 'Wheel Listen Bus' will be transformed into two spaces: a small kitchen where warm refreshments may be prepared for anyone passing by in need of assistance, and a secure space where people can talk in confidence and without fear of being judged. The bus will travel across South Wales on specific days and times to various locations.

We're looking for people to donate towards the purchase and renovation of the bus because it's a service that our community really needs. Thank you for your time and consideration in reading this and for your support.
