‘What’s Up Doc’ is a documentary about the dangers of prescription medicine, and the lack of care and knowledge to help people come off their medication safely.
We are holding this fundraiser to raise completion funds to finish the edit, having self funded all the filming of the project so far.
While working on this documentary we have been shocked to uncover an epidemic of people who’s lives have been destroyed or lost due to this issue.
The film follows actor Emma Saunders through her personal journey of being prescribed benzodiapines that led to her being sectioned multiple times, being polydrugged, and coming close to losing her life.
Through this journey Emma found a way out and is now tapering slowly off the multiple drugs that doctors gave her, wanting to share and build much neded awareness of this issue. Emma found a world of support online, with regular people helping each other taper off their medications. This knowledge is sorely lacking within the medical profession, with doctors too quick to prescribe medication, with no knowledge of how to advise patients to come off the drugs they so easily give out. Through the documentary Emma meets people like Dr Mark Horowitz and Adele Framer who are leading the charge in this field; lifting the lid on the dangers of prescription medicine.
We hope that this documentary will create change in how medications are given out and to inspire Doctors to learn more about what this medication actually does, the adverse effects that can be caused, and in particular to help patients safely taper off their medication.
