The core purpose of West View Advice & Resource Centre is maintaining a free welfare benefits, advice and information service for the residents of Hartlepool. To achieve our aims and objectives we work in partnership with, and support, many statutory and voluntary agencies by providing highly skilled and qualified advice workers.
Most of our clients are those at greatest risk of financial and social exclusion, the poorest and most disadvantaged, we aim to improve the financial circumstances and therefore life quality by helping them to obtain all their rightful benefits and manage their finances. In providing our services we aim to end the intergenerational cycle of poor money management, debt and deprivation in which our most vulnerable clients (who typically have low literacy levels and low self-confidence) are trapped.
As well as providing advice services, in 2012 we took over the running of our local community centre to stop the Council from closing it. Providing a safe, comfortable and welcoming venue for local residents to meet, join interest groups and take part in social and educational activities to stimulate their mental, emotional and physical health, such as line dancing, slimming, exercise, bingo and cancer support.
