Animal welfare camp in Lahore, Pakistan. Free veterinary care for working animals.

by a fundraiser in Pakistan

World Animal Friends a UK based charity has been working with Huraira Animal Lovers in Pakistan for 3 years. In that time we have implemented some important projects to improve the lives of animals.

We run an animal hospital in Karachi. The hospital provides free veterinary treatment for homeless street animals.

We recently opened a shelter in Faisalabad which can also provide free treatment for homeless animals.

We work in collaboration with vet clinics in Nankana, Multan and Hyderebad so street animals can get veterinary help at no cost.

Our work is highly regarded by the veterinary university in Lahore. They support our efforts as much as possible.

Last year, in collaboration with the university we ran 2 animal welfare camps.  One in Multan and one in Hyderabad.

We are now fundraising to run a camp in Lahore.

The camps are staffed by our Huraira vets and vets and volunteers from the university.  The camps last for 2 days.

The owners of working animals can bring their animals to the camp to receive free veterinary treatment.

The owners are very poor people and this is the only opportunity for them to get help with their sick animals.

It is important to them because in most cases their animals are their only asset and provide their only income.

The working animals in Pakistan lead hard lives, being able to receive veterinary treatment is important for their welfare.

We believe our camps to help the working animals are the first of their kind in Pakistan. The veterinary university and local officials have said they have not heard of such help previously.

At our previous camps around 500 animals were treated over the 2 days. The animals included donkeys, horses, cows, goats, buffalo and a few cats and dogs

In addition to treating sick animals  our team vaccinated a large number of animals. They also gave deworming treatment to many.

The team advised owners on the proper care and treatment of their animals.

On both days the team provided food and water for animals.

Our current task is to raise funds for our next camp in Lahore. We need to purchase a large volume of drugs, medications and consumables.

We need to get publicity literature printed to inform local owners of the details of the planned camp.

We will also purchase food for the animals.

It will be necessary to hire a van for transporting the team, tables, tent, medications. etc to the camp site. The camps are held in rural areas some distance from the nearest town.

We are asking for donations to run our next camp.  Your contribution will make a real difference to the lives of working donkeys, horses and buffalo and other livestock.

This camp cannot happen without funds.

Please donate if you can.

Your support means a lot.
