We founded the foodbank in 2020, where we began offering free meals during the school holidays. We then realised there was a need for this weekly- and then the foodbank was born. We soon realised that local families were struggling to feed themselves and we vowed to put a stop to that. Initially we were based in the cellar of an office, we had to run up and down the stairs every time someone needed a parcel, it was hard work getting a stock up and down. Within 2 years we have managed to secure our own building where clients come in and choose their own items, have a coffee and a chat and see a friendly face. However, the need for the foodbank has almost tripled just this year and we are seeing more and more new people each week. Some with 4/5 children who require huge amounts of food and support. We need to keep this project alive in the village because if we weren’t here then many adults and children would go hungry day in day out. We really need some financial support to be able to do this long term. We also offer a service called early help where we refer people to professionals who help with mental health, budgeting, family issues etc.
