We believe the major political parties are letting the residents of Wokingham down. We have seen what Independent Councillors can achieve in Wokingham. By holding the balance of power in a Council that does not have a sufficient seats to form a majority on their own Independents can influence decisions without having to stick to official party policies.
HOWEVER, as outlined above if we raise funds for a group of Councillors we run the risk of being classed as a Political Party, which introduces a host of complications about what we can legally do. Therefore this crowd funding project will raise funds for Barkham candidate Roderick Stevens ONLY.
Any money raised will be used for publicity and promotional materials up to the limits imposed by the Electoral Commission. This works out at a little over £1,000, calculated on the number of voters in the ward (3,723 for Barkham).
