We came across this amazing place just after Christmas, while cycling through Kenya. We stayed for a few days, spending time with the children, learning the story of the project and doing some teaching and activities with the kids. The family who founded the children's home work tirelessly to keep the children safe, happy and in education, with no funding from the government.
We were there just after the November rains so the river was full (we had a really fun and refreshing swim in the river with the kids while we were there). Water is pumped from the river up to two big tanks on site, providing water for drinking, cooking, washing and laundry.
We have been contacted by John at the project, who has told us that the river has almost dried up and with no more rain due until April, they are in an increasingly desperate situation.
If people could donate a few pounds to help buy a tank or two of fresh water to get them through until the rains in April, this would be amazing.
Thank you in advance, I know the wonderful children and staff will be incredibly grateful.
Access to clean, fresh water is not something that can be taken for granted for a lot of people in Kenya. We are so lucky in the UK.
