The People’s Walk for Wildlife is back, and bigger than ever. We need your help to fund these walks so we can send a message to Downing Street: STOP the #AttackOnNature!
We’ve got sewage in our rivers, new oil and gas licences being issued, nature-friendly farming schemes on the brink of being scrapped, proposed ‘investment zones’ threatening ancient woodlands – all while our wildlife is disappearing at an alarming rate.
The #AttackOnNature is very real and we must do something about it. So, it’s time to get your boots on – the People’s Walk for Wildlife is back.
Just like last time, this is a chance to stand together united. RSPB, The Wildlife Trusts, National Trust, Extinction Rebellion, Wildlife Hospitals, Hunt Saboteurs… anyone who has a care and concern in any way shape or form for protecting the environment and everything that lives in it.
All will be welcome. This will be a day when we put our differences aside and demonstrate to our elected representatives, in a peaceful and democratic way, that we will not stand for further degradation of environmental protections.
Stewards, infrastructure, acquiring licences to shut roads and public areas for the duration of the walk – all of this costs money to do safely. These walks can only go ahead with your support so we’re aiming for £50,000.
In 2018, The People’s Walk For Wildlife was born. 10,000 of you walked to Whitehall and delivered a manifesto calling for better protections for the UK’s treasured wildlife, before their habitat is destroyed forever.
The first Walk for Wildlife went down in history. We walked, birdsong rang out across London’s streets, Billy Bragg sang 'Where Have All The Badgers Gone?' and we led the march on 10 Downing Street to speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves - the wildlife we share this planet with.
We were ignored.
In 2018, we stood together in solidarity and sent a message - we will NOT tolerate further reductions to environmental and wildlife protections. Now the government have orchestrated the #AttackOnNature - and we must mobilise once again.
The world is at a critical stage. It’s time to act. My whole hearted thanks to everyone who has already contributed so much to these walks. We can’t do this without you.
