Having generated almost £3,000,000 of social value over the past three seasons and engaging with 10,000+ Cambridgeshire residents on an annual basis, Cambridge United Foundation is in a unique position to serve our local community, especially those most vulnerable. We are committed to fulfilling this potential.
Our target groups for support are:
Older adults, by creating a social network for people to help tackle loneliness in later life and also help prevent hospital admissions, keeping them physically active and living independently for longer.Adults who experience barriers to physical activity and education opportunities, by providing inclusive football sessions in their local area and offering volunteering experiences to boost their confidence and CV as they aspire to access work.Young people, through sporting opportunities, making them free and accessible, as well as engaging with key schools in their area to offer mentoring and curriculum interventions to boost their future academic pathway.
Our impact data is consistent with our vision and mission, to enhance lives through sport – and in particular focusing on improving physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing, social connectedness and personal development. In 2023/24 we delivered 894 sessions focused on community engagement and development: a total of 881 hours of delivery. In total, 447 individual participants were engaged in these sessions during the season, making 6,480 attendances between them. In addition to this we delivered over 4,000 sessions to local schools supporting education, training and/or employment. In total, 12,4710 participants were engaged in education, training and/or employment sessions during the year, which was an increase on our 10,436 from last year, giving us a total reach of 12,857 individuals impacted.
Sport Local Action and The Street Soccer Foundation are launching The Walk of Clubs – a major fundraising walk across all 92 league clubs, part of Football For Good.
Together, we’ll raise vital funds and shine a spotlight on the incredible community work football achieves every day.
We aim to recruit thousands of walkers, raising significant funds for amazing projects and driving thousands of hours of volunteering. Each walker will have the opportunity to connect with your organisation’s volunteer opportunities when they sign up. Together, we’ll celebrate football’s unique ability to unite communities and change lives.
*Funds raised through this project will be split as follows: 50% will go directly to this organisation, and 25% each to Sport Local Action and The Street Soccer Foundation. After costs, the contributions from Sport Local Action and Street Soccer Foundation will be used to support this organisation’s most relevant programmes – specifically those focused on removing financial barriers to sport for young people and tackling youth homelessness.
