I have been walking for years and years now and it has been a life saver for me during times of arthritis, depression & bereavement. I started this WALK-TALK-CONNECT in 2018 (after my mum died of cancer) to get my daughter fit & confident about herself and her ability to achieve whatever she sets her mind to. From not being able to walk 30mins at a stretch… she became a DUKE of EDINBURGH GOLD achiever Hiker in 2023 at the Lake District. She has walked many half marathons with me for different wellbeing charities and personal challenges… and even as she has just began her Chemical Engineering study in University this year, she has wasted no time in finding walking routes that will help her stay mentally boosted to cope with the academic workload ahead . Lots of people have been inspired by my stories and my video blogs of our walks, our adventures to many parks and sights around the UK and my ability to ramp up so many others to do the same. But I am unable to take this further as I have no funding or means of work to afford me to offer this to many other people on a wider scale. My aim for Crowdfunding is to be able to rally people together to engage in many different activities like group walking across many sites, coffee mornings & evening meetups to improve mental wellbeing and help combat loneliness. To equally encourage young people to connect with one another in different communities by taking part in some of these outdoor and networking events.
WALKING, EXERCISE of all forms and being able to plan MEETUPS with different people is immensely beneficial for our mental wellbeing and it should be encouraged and supported for people like me to help make society HAPPIER, HEALTHIER, FITTER & more traditionally SOCIABLE in real Life rather than digitally.
