After the loss of her mother, Daphne finds herself waking up hungover in the middle of a field with no recollection as to how she got there. However, it’s not until she returns home that the realisation starts to settle in. She’s not there anymore.
Produced by an internationally assembled, award-winning group of filmmakers at the University of Derby, Wake Up Call is a short film that explores the themes of loss and grief. Grief is a universal experience that affects us all and presents itself in a variety of different and unique ways for everyone.
Wake Up Call tells Daphne’s story and will give the audience a front row seat into her world after losing a loved one. It’s important to us as filmmakers to take this experience and present it in a raw and honest way, keeping the themes and the characters grounded in this reality that affects so many people.
As our graduation film, Wake Up Call will be entered into film festivals both locally in the UK and globally. Every pound raised is going towards ensuring locations are covered, costumes and props are secured, actors are paid for and making sure that everyone is fed. Any additional funds raised will go towards festival submissions and promotional materials.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to sharing this film with you soon.
